CITY OF BRITT – BRITT IOWA – JULY 8TH, 2019 The City Council of the City of Britt, Iowa met in pursuant to law and the rules of said Council in special joint session with the Britt Fire Department/Rural Fire Department Board in the Britt Fire Hall at 6:30 o’clock P.M. the 8th day of July 2019. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Arndorfer, and the following Council members were: PRESENT: Curt Gast, Paul Verbrugge and Karrie Wallen ABSENT: Stacy Swenson and Chad Luecht RURAL FIRE BOARD PRESENT: L. Marchand, Doug Verbrugge, and Mark Eisenman BRITT FIRE BOARD PRESENT: Chief Jon Swenson, Asst. Chief Kevin Wilson, Tyler Swenson, Pat Trulson, A. Hunt, J. Wood, and Ryan Mayland ALSO IN ATTENDANCE: Toyne Fire Apparatus Representative The meeting opened – Bids for the new Fire Pumper Truck were opened. There were three (3) bids received. The first was from Pierce Manufacturing in the amount of $517,707. The price would be reduced to $499,997 if paid up front. The second bid was from Spartan Fire and Emergency Apparatus in the amount of $431,227. The third was from Toyne Fire Apparatus in the amount of $421,156. The price would be reduced to $414,000 if the chassis was paid for at the time of delivery. Chief Swenson hopes to make a recommendation from the Truck Committee to the City and Rural Fire Board in one (1) week. The City will reach out to Maggie Burger from Speer Financial to discuss financing options in conjunction with the Britt Rural Board. There have been monies set aside from reserved operating funds – both on the side of the City and the Rural Board. There are also some State funds options with 0% interest available that will be looked at. With no further business it was moved by Verbrugge and seconded by Gast to adjourn the meeting.
