CITY OF BRITT – BRITT IOWA – FEBRUARY 22ND, 2020 The City Council of the City of Britt, Iowa met in pursuant to law and the rules of said Council in a special council session at 7:00 o’clock P.M. the 22nd day of Februaryn 2021. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Arndorfer, and the following Council members were: PRESENT: Curt Gast, Stacy Swenson, Karrie Wallen, Paul Verbrugge, and Chad Luecht ABSENT: None City Administrator Sawyer presented the council with the proposed budget. Several expenses were discussed. It was determined that the dollar amount set aside for street improvements will not be reduced. Since we are retiring one of our bonds next fiscal year, we would be able to bond for the multi-million street repair project in FY2022/2023. It will not only include repaving the street but also replacing the infrastructure under the street. In addition, even though the 2014 Ford Explorer (police department) is due for an upgrade next fiscal year, we will be holding off another year as we are buying a new vehicle this fiscal year to replace the K-9 unit that was sold to Forest City’s Police Department. The levy on the proposed budget is $18.38326 compared to the current year at $18.38434. It is the intent of the council to keep the levy as low as possible without sacrificing services currently provided to our residents. Sawyer said she would look for areas that might reduce to levy further. With no further business it was moved by Luecht and seconded by Wallen to adjourn the meeting.
