SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING IN BRITT COUNCIL CHAMBERS ON MONDAY, JULY 17TH, 2023, 5:30 P.M. 1) OPENING BUSINESS a. Call meeting to order. Minutes: The meeting was called to order by Mayor Arndorfer b. Roll call. Minutes: Present were Stacy Swenson, Curt Gast, Karrie Wallen, Ashley Weiss, and Abby Post c. Pledge of Allegiance d. Conflict of Interest (state if applicable) e. Approval of Agenda Minutes: It was motioned by Swenson and second by Wallen to approve the agenda as set. Motion carried unanimously. 2) POLICE WAGES Minutes: Mayor Arndorfer explained to the public present that since the department is moving from a 5- person department to a 4-person department we can give wage increases without increasing the budget. It was motioned by Weiss and second by Wallen to approve the following wages: Chief of Police from $31 to $35 SGT from 29.53 to $32 Officer 1 from 25.42 to $30 Officer 2- Uncertified 26/hr. or certified $28/hr. Interim Chief Williams will move to $33.50/hr. Pass a policy for the employee handbook to pay officers on call 50% of their on-call time. The motion carried unanimously. 3) PUBLIC COMMENT Minutes: Michelle Johnson was present to speak on behalf of the public works department. She wants to see the department also receive a wage adjustment that is comparable to other departments around the area. The council explained that we could investigate wage adjustments for the next raise that is done in June of 2024. 4) ADJOURN Minutes: It was motioned by Gast and second by Swenson to adjourn the meeting.
