ADJOURNMENT Page 1 of 3  Committee Item Memo Meeting Date: December 12, 2022 Staff Contact: Emily Egan, Community Development Director Department: Community Development Subject: Discussion of a Request from Cycle Brookfield to Host an "Intelligentsia Cup" Bike Race Event in Summer 2023 Background Information: Cycle Brookfield is a non-profit community group which advocates for more and safer bike lanes, routes, and amenities in Brookfield. The organization has been investigating the possibility of hosting the Intelligentsia Cup bike race event in Brookfield since 2021. This is a multiple day event in the region, but the event in Brookfield would be just one day. Christopher Valadez from Cycle Brookfield will provide a presentation and information for discussion to the Committee of the Whole. Financial Impact: Cycle Brookfield would provide the sponsorship fee to the Intelligentsia Cup representatives which would secure event coordination, promotion, and much of the event's equipment. The Village would work with Cycle Brookfield and provide the following; Police Department support for traffic control, Public Works support for patching and cleaning the streets, Community Development support for coordination and promotion of the event. The proposed route for the race is shown in the attachment. These roads would be closed the day of the event and may be impacted by set up and teardown of the event. Recommendation(s): Village staff recommend the Committee of the Whole hear from Cycle Brookfield and discuss the request.
