Committee Item Memo
Meeting Date: January 26, 2026
Staff Contact: Deanne Adasiak, Business Development
Specialist
Department: Community Development
Subject: Discussion on Brookfield Zoo Partnership
Background Information:
As part of ongoing efforts to support business engagement and economic development
programming, staff explored partnership opportunities with Brookfield Zoo for 2026. Staff
worked with Zoo representatives to identify a partnership structure that would add value to key
Community Development initiatives.
On January 21, 2026 the Economic Development Commission discussed the proposed Zoo
Partnership benefits and promoting Brookfield through Zoo communications, newsletters, and
social media channels. The EDC unanimously voted to support moving the Zoo Partnership
discussion to the Village Board.
The proposed partnership is structured to support key initiatives in 2026 and include the
following components:
Complimentary room reservation for two community events:
1) Brookfield Shops Cohort Graduation - February 6, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.
2) State of the Village - March 5, 2026 at 8:30 a.m.
50 general admission tickets and 25 parking passes valid for use over a 12-month period
1) Brookfield Shops Grand Opening - May 2026 (tickets and parking bundled for raffle prizes)
2) Community Development Corner - Tickets bundled for gift basket for business participation
Organization name placement in BZC (Brookfield Zoo Chicago) Member & Non-Member
Digital Newsletter
1) 280-300K subscribers
One Event on-site table activation on a Saturday or Sunday in Spring 2026
1) Businesses selected through a Business Spotlight survey
2) Rotating time slots to include a balanced mix of Brookfield businesses
Page 6 of 7
The partnership would bring together event space access and business promotion that staff
would utilize strategically throughout the year alongside Community Development outreach
efforts. By utilizing Zoo venue space for programming initiatives, it will increase the overall
impact of our events and provide engagement opportunities for businesses and other
community stakeholders. It will also support attraction and retention efforts in our business
relationships by showing continued investment in our business community.
Financial Impact:
$5,000
Recommendation(s):
