Approval of Minutes: Approved Feb 4 & Feb 25th 2025 meeting minutes IV. Reports 1. Staff: Bob noted that he included Community Development, Pub I ic Works, & Cycle Brookfield in an emaiI together to coordinate the bike rack project together. Bob mentioned we have a new di rector of pub Iic works. 2. Trustee Katie mentioned that $24 million of infrastructural projects will be completed this year Liaison: in the village, including many lead lines. Community Development's webpage has a link to a map of all the lead service lines that will be addressed this year. Katie says the vi I Iage has given some more consideration to the recreation center plan and has sent their plans to the contractor. After they bid on it the vii Iage wi11 be accepting feedback on how to find the project. V. Old Business 1 Bridget reports that about 3/4s of the buckthorn at Creekside Woods is cleared. The staff are already familiarized with operation of the brush mowers and grinders. Vic says they should finish up this week. The big logs from MWRD are being hauled out. Wyatt wi11 handle herbicide treatment of resprouting buckthorn in falI or next spring. Bob explained that he has done some outreach regarding the project at Creekside Woods. Most of the responses he's gotten are positive but there are some concerns from neighbors. Bob and the commission agree that more outreach should be done before herbicide treatments commence so that neighbors are informed about what and why we are doing it. Mock-up signage for Creekside Woods will be shared at a Friday meeting. Bridget will share the official time and Iocation. Jen Nelson motions to change the name Kiwanis woods south of the Burlington to Creekside Woods. Commissioners vote 6-0 in favor of the motion. The commission approved by a vote of 6-0. 2. AlI commissioners must update their Sustainability Plan tabs comp! eted goals for Jen to com piIe by the 21st. We will wait to update the plan with recommendations annually. Kevin suggests that we have a report card comp I eted every year in June, well before budget negotiations in September. We should not have to update the plan through the board. Iris suggests she can also provide Jen with all library events and their attendance levels as a proxy for outreach and education about and for the Sustainability Plan. Logan wants to acquire rain barrels for giveaway during the green infrastructure event from MWRD. Rebecca Fiala volunteered to be a liaison for MWRD to the commission. 3. Bridget says we should start communicating with volunteers, vendors, etc to coordinate Meet the Creek aIready. Meet the Creek wi11 take place on the 20th of September this year. We wi11 notify the folks from the Zoo, Forest Preserve, and the Natural Naturalist. We will also rent kayaks again. Might tie into a potentiaI park district kayak rentaI program. Rebecca mentioned that we could coordinate a kayaking rental route with Oak Brook. Katie suggests we might want to start Meet the Creek a Iittle later than usua I in order not to overlap with the farmers market. We also wiII reduce to 3 hours from 4. Bridget suggests we'll need at Ieast a couple more point people to hold down the event coordination and execution. Iris and I wi11 take over the paviIion core of the event. Logan and Megha wi II coordinate with scouts for volunteers. Jen wiII handI e zero waste. Wyatt will handle volunteer sign ups again. We will change the time of the event from 1pm to 4pm. Set up will begin around 11am. Next year the Forest Preserve wiII work with us specifically with fish collection. They are also wiIIing to share with us water quality data. This can be useful for management planning too Rebecca Fial a requests a booth for Salt Creek Watershed. Bridget agreed. We could also set up a sprinkler or other water feature if it's hot. VI.
