Neighborhood Information Meeting to be held on:
Wednesday, October 30, 2019 - 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
Common Council Chambers – City Hall
2000 N. Calhoun Road - Brookfield, WI
Chabad Lubavitch is requesting approval of a conditional use ordinance permitting occupancy of 1275
North Barker Road. In addition to being a synagogue or temple, a Chabad serves the varied needs of the
Jewish community. The site is zoned “I” Industrial District with “MSO-CTS” Modified Suburban
Overlay – Context Suburban development pattern allowing pavement setback and offset modifications
at qualifying sites. Existing Conditional Use Ordinance No. 1053 allows operation of a gymnastic
training facility at the site. Religious uses such as Chabad Lubavitch, are regulated as conditional uses
by the city zoning code, permissible in any zoning district subject to a public hearing and upon
approval of an ordinance by the Common Council.
The meeting is an open house. No presentation will be made. Representatives of Chabad Lubavitch will
be present to answer questions about the project. City staff will answer questions regarding the
conditional use process. My office will represent the City of Brookfield and collect written comments for
the Common Council and Plan Commission.
A public hearing regarding this matter is scheduled for November 11, 2019. A separate public hearing
notice will be mailed.
