Call meeting to order. 2. Roll call. 3. Approval of minutes from regular meeting, March 18, 2026. 4. Approve the eligibility list for Lieutenant in the Police Department. 5. Approve the certified eligibility list for Lieutenant in the Police Department. 6. Acknowledge letter from Mayor Van Kirk on the hire of Mechanic, Michael Simko, in the Service Department. 7. Any other business. 8. Adjourn. Page 3 of 5 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15, 2026 5:00 P.M. Meeting called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Chairperson Patta MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairperson Patta, Commissioner Sefchik, Commissioner Barrow OTHERS PRESENT: Police Lt. Cindy Eschweiler MOTION by Chairperson Patta, second by Commissioner Sefchik to approve the minutes of the regular meeting on March 18, 2026. VOTE RESULTED: Yeas-Patta, Sefchik, Barrow. Nays-None. MOTION by Chairperson Patta, second by Commissioner Barrow to approve the eligibility list for Police Lieutenant. VOTE RESULTED: Yeas-Patta, Sefchik, Barrow. Nays-None. MOTION by Chairperson Patta, second by Commissioner Barrow to approve the certified eligibility list for Police Lieutenant. VOTE RESULTED: Yeas- Patta, Sefchik, Barrow. Nays-None. Commissioner Sefchik asked Lt. Eschweiler if all three (3) candidates will be interviewed. She replied they would interview all candidates and will be conducting panels next week. They will be utilizing outside Police Chiefs to conduct the panel. Lt. Eschweiler explained they were looking for Chiefs from cities that have a similar city demographic and a similar department size. Chairperson Patta asked about the promotion of Sergeants. Lt. Eschweiler explained they will be using the list that was recently certified and Sgt. Tony Aftim was promoted from in December. MOTION by Chairperson Patta, second by Commissioner Barrow to acknowledge the letter from Mayor Van Kirk on the hire of Michael Simko, Mechanic at the Service Department. VOTE RESULTED: Yeas-Patta, Sefchik, Barrow. Nays-None. With no further business, MOTION by Chairperson Patta, second by Commissioner Sefchik to adjourn. VOTE RESULTED: Yeas –Patta, Sefchik, Barrow.
