Connecting and Belonging Commission Meeting Minutes
July 21, 2026
6:00 p.m.
Members Present: Dana Acy (Chair), Ginger Marshall, James Brown, Kim Stark, Steven
Coyle, Kendall Lewis (Student Ambassador) Michelle Bronowski
Motion by Acy, second by Coyle to approve the minutes from June 16, 2026.
BUSINESS:
• Committee/Commission Focus and Resident Communication: Acy referenced an
email she sent the morning of the meeting and asked members to review it. The
email discussed the distinction between a committee and a commission, as well as
the commission’s focus on educating and communicating with residents.
• E-Bike Education and Awareness: Acy mentioned she spoke with Councilman
Mosley about education of e-bikes. She suggested using ParentSquare, the school
district’s parent communication platform to provide families with information
about current e-bike laws. Acy suggested creating and distributing a flyer outlining
e-bike rules. Coyle stated that Chief Eschweiler and/or City Hall would be
responsible for creating the materials but agreed that commission members could
assist with distributing them. Lewis stated that she is checking with the schools to
determine whether announcement’s regarding e-bike safety and rules can be made
during the day. Coyle encouraged members to attend the July 30 Safety and
Environmental Committee meeting to show the commission’s presence and ask
questions about e-bike legislation and rules.
• Brooklyn Home Days: Acy reported that the Domestic Relations Commission
requested assistance at its Home Days table. The Domestic Relations Commission is
coordinating a Stuff the Bus event and asked the commission to help share
information about this event. Home Days is scheduled to take place on August 22
and August 23. Coyle emailed the commission the “Stuff the Bus” flyer.
• Resident Survey Development: Acy will provide Starks with proposed questions
for residents to include in a Survey Monkey survey. Ideally, the survey will consist

of seven to 10 questions to gather resident feedback regarding community needs
and future programming. It was suggested to include questions related to
accessibility and inclusive park features for individuals with disabilities and special
needs.
Stark asked if commission t-shirts could be provided so members could be easily
identified while attending events and conducting surveys.
• Commission Vacancy: One membership position remains open on the commission.
