Opioid Settlement Advisory Task Force

Opioid Settlement Advisory Task Force
The task force was adopted in 2022, after the statewide framework was put into place to ensure municipalities would
benefit from a share of the settlement dollars being generated as part of the national prescription opioid litigation,
which states and cities have been waging against manufacturers and distributors of opioid medications. As part of
that statewide settlement framework, any city accepting settlement dollars must ensure the money is spent for
appropriate law enforcement or harm-reduction reasons. Brooklyn created a small task force, joined by citizens, to
help with making sure these funds are spent appropriately.
