THE STATE OF TEXAS ) CITY OF BROWNSVILLE COUNTY OF CAMERON ) ) CANCELLED NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD COMMITTEE OF THE CITY OF BROWNSVILLE Pursuant to Chapter 551, Title 5 of the Texas Government Code, the Texas Opening Meetings Act, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a meeting of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee of the City of Brownsville, Texas, will be conducted on Thursday, September 12th, 2019 at 12:00 noon at the Recreation Center Conference Room, 1338 E. 8th St., in Brownsville, Cameron County, Texas, 78520. At said meeting, the following items will be considered: 1. Determination of Quorum 2. Call to order 3. Pledge of Allegiance: United States Pledge * Texas Pledge. 4. Approval of the Minutes of the last meeting of August 8th, 2019. 5. Safety Concerns (Parks Advisory Board) • Discussion on possibly adding call boxes along the trails & Parks for emergency purposes. ( Joe Lee Rubio – Co-Chairperson) 6. Discussion Period & Possible Action (15 minutes) • Discussion, Consideration and Action to approve the City of Brownsville and the Brownsville Beautification Committee to sponsor up to 7 murals or light installations at the 14th street Plaza located in historic downtown Brownsville. (Parks Director) • Discussion, consideration and possible action to support and possibly appoint a liaison to the planning group of the New Brownsville Birding Center.(Joe Lee Rubio) • Discussion, consideration and possible action to support and possibly appoint a liaison to the planning group for the Montezuma Cypress Interpretive Center and Park. (Joe Lee Rubio) 7. Director’s Report (Damaris McGlone – PARD Director) 8. Public Comment Period: Please Note: THE PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD IS DESIGNATED FOR HEARING CONCERNS REGARDING CITY OF BROWNSVILLE PUBLIC POLICY OR CITY OF BROWNSVILLE BUSINESS THAT IS NOT ON THE AGENDA. • There is a three (3) - minute time limit per speaker (Timed) • No Formal Action can be taken • For the Record, the speaker must identify by name before speaking 9.
