CITY OF BRUSH!
MINUTES OF THE APRIL 11, 2016 – REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
The City Council of the City of Brush, Colorado met in regular session on April 11, 2016. Mayor
Chuck Schonberger called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. The meeting was held at Brush
City Hall. The pledge of allegiance was given.

Also present were City Attorney Robert Chapin, Assistant Administrator Karen Schminke,
Finance Director Joanne Gosselink, Community Services Director Lance Schwindt, Police
Lieutenant Corey Hardy and City Clerk Andrea Strand.
MINUTES
The minutes of the regular meeting of March 28, 2016, were approved as submitted.
VISITORS AND DELEGATIONS
Paula Bragg Executive Director of S.A.R.A was presented and provided information to Council.
She represented the local agency for sexual assault response advocates. She reported that the
agency had been involved with 13 victims of sexual assault in the City of Brush and works
closely with our police department. Her agency is funded by grants and donations and she
requested a donation in the amount of $1,000 which is the corporate sponsor level for their
prairie golf tournament, which is a fund raising event in June.
MANAGEMENT
Second and Final Reading of Ordinance 845-16 Repealing Provisions in Article 4 of
Chapter 10, Brush Municipal Code, Related to Public Indecency and Indecent Exposure
Councilor Dykes moved, second by Councilor Anderson for final reading and adoption of
Ordinance No. 845-16 Repealing Provisions in Article 4 of Chapter 10, Brush Municipal Code
Related to Public Indecency and Indecent Exposure. The Ordinance was approved
unanimously by roll call vote.

Councilor Quinlin moved, second by Councilor Dykes to approve City bills from March 28-April
11, 2016. The motion was approved unanimously by roll call vote.

STAFF REPORTS
Finance Director Gosselink
• The financial report for May will be included in the packet for the second meeting in May.
Police Lieutenant Hardy
• Reported on the after action meeting for the recent snow event.
Community Services Director Schwindt
• Reported that the St. Patrick’s 5k had 250 participants.
• The golf course sprinkler system is working well since leaks had been identified and
repaired.
• Hired Shawn Stutsman as the golf manager.
• Summer baseball is starting with record numbers participating.
City Clerk Strand
• Read upcoming meetings and announcements.
Assistant Administrator Schminke
• April 15, at 12:30 p.m. will be the Arbor Day planting with third graders at Sunset Park.
• The final phase of the Downtown Project is progressing with the drainage pond being
dug and dirt hauled to Doty Pond for future baseball field development.

MAYOR AND COUNCIL REPORTS
Mayor Schonberger
• Commended Lieutenant Hardy on organizing and conducting the after action discussion
for the recent snow event. He also encouraged those interested in becoming volunteers
for Red Cross.
Councilor Anderson
• Reported that she attended the meet and greet for physicians at East Morgan County
Hospital and was impressed with them.
