MINUTES OF THE APRIL 24, 2017 – REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
The City Council of the City of Brush, Colorado met in regular session on April 24, 2017. Mayor
Chuck Schonberger called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. The meeting was held at Brush
City Hall. The pledge of allegiance was given.
Present on roll call were: Mayor Chuck Schonberger
Councilor Jeanine Anderson
Councilor Rick Bain
Councilor Marlene Baker
Councilor Kimberly Dykes
Absent: Councilor Heath Becker
Councilor Vicky Quinlin
Also present were Police Chief Travis Anderson, City Attorney Bo Chapin, Assistant City
Administrator Karen Schminke, Finance Director Joanne Gosselink, Community Service
Director Lance Schwindt, Marketing Specialist Tyler Purvis and City Clerk Andrea Strand.
MINUTES
The minutes of the regular meeting of April 10, 2017, were approved as submitted.

City Disbursements
Councilor Anderson moved, second by Councilor Dykes to approve City bills from April 10-24,
2017. The roll call vote was unanimous.

Trash and Garbage Fund $ 13,594.96
Waste Water Fund $ 18,561.97

STAFF REPORTS
Police Chief Anderson
• Responded to an incident at Brush High School which resulted in one arrest.
Community Service Director Schwindt
• Working with the Brush School District to find a location for a community garden. The
hope is to have it in place for this growing season.
• Baseball and T-ball are starting with record numbers.
Marketing Specialist Purvis
• Reminded everyone of Loves groundbreaking ceremony tomorrow.
• Downtown Colorado and the Chamber are working toward a project that will be
presented at the conference in Breckenridge. Central School will be the topic presented
at the conference for solutions.
Community Development Director Schminke
• Reported another successful Arbor Day celebration with the 3rd graders from Beaver
Valley Elementary.
• An inquiry into the floodplain elevation maps will be forthcoming to Council.
City Clerk Strand
• Highlighted upcoming meetings on the calendar.
MAYOR AND COUNCIL
Councilor Anderson
• Reported on her attendance at the East Morgan County Hospital Foundation event.
• Commented that the trees planted at Doty Pond for Arbor Day, two years ago, are doing
well and add a lot to the area.
