Special City Council Meeting

CITY OF BRUSH! MINUTES OF THE FEBRUARY 1, 2016 – SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING The City Council of the City of Brush, Colorado met in special session on February 1, 2016. Mayor Chuck Schonberger called the meeting to order at 12:00 p.m. The meeting was held at Brush City Hall. The pledge of allegiance was given. Present on roll call were: Mayor Chuck Schonberger Councilor Jeanine Anderson Councilor Rick Bain Councilor Marlene Baker Councilor Kimberly Dykes Councilor Vicky Quinlin Absent: Councilor Heath Becker Also present were City Administrator Monty Torres, Finance Director Joanne Gosselink, Public Works Director Dale Colerick, and City Clerk Andrea Strand. MANAGEMENT Extension of the Brush Storm Water Infrastructure Phase IV Project Contract (EIAF #7300) with Department of Local Affairs Administrator Torres presented the contract extension and explained that it was necessary to request an extension from the Department of Local Affairs for the completion of Phase 4 of the Downtown Project. It was necessary to obtain additional engineering because of concerns with the ground water rising in the area. This increased the project approximately $400,000. Through the bidding process J2 Construction had obtained the bid, but because of the necessity of additional engineering the bid had not been awarded at that time. Councilor Quinlin moved, second by Councilor Dykes to authorize the Mayor to sign contract extension with DOLA for Project #7300 concerning Phase IV Storm Water Project and was approved unanimously by roll call vote. Public Works Director Colerick stated that it would move the project along faster if Council could award the bid to J2 Construction, contingent upon receiving the executed contract back from DOLA. Councilor Bain moved, second by Councilor Dykes to authorize the Mayor to sign the notice of Award to J2 Construction upon receipt of the executed contract from DOLA. It was approved unanimously by roll call vote.
