MINUTES HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION TOWN OF BUENA VISTA, COLORADO March 3, 2022 3:00 PM In-person Meeting was held at the Buena Vista Airport with alternate zoom link availability for the public to also attend virtually. I. CALL TO ORDER John O’Brien called the meeting to order at 3:03 pm. II. ROLL CALL Jo Reese, Nancy Locke, Suzy Kelly, Katy Welter, Mary Therese Anstey, Dan Courtright, and John O’Brien, and Melanie Roth attended in person. III. AGENDA ADOPTION Nancy requested adding “oral histories” to the agenda and Melanie requested adding “local landmarking.” Mary Therese moved and Dan Courtright seconded a motion to approve the adoption as amended. The motion passed unanimously. IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – February 3, 2022 Melanie noted a typo and Katy noted the year was wrong. Melanie moved to approve the minutes as amended and Suzy seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. V. PUBLIC COMMENT No public comment. VI. BUSINESS ITEMS A. 2022 officer elections Dan Courtright is resigning as an officer and as a full board member, but wishes to remain as an alternate. Jo Reese is interested in serving as Vice-Chair. John O’Brien is interested in serving as Chair. Katy Welter is interested in serving as Secretary. Mary Therese made a motion and Jo Reese seconded a motion to accept Dan’s resignation as Vice Chair and full board member. The motion carried unanimously. This Agenda may be Amended Posted at Buena Vista Town Hall and www.buenavistaco.gov  Suzy made a motion and Melanie seconded to recommend Jo Reese’s appointment to a full board member and Vice-Chair, John O’Brien as Chair, and Katy Welter as Secretary. The motion carried unanimously. B. McGinnis Gym and District Admin building update Katy gave an update on the McGinnis Gym and District Admin (1882 Jail) buildings, which she and her husband are under contract to purchase from the Buena Vista School District, with the intent of rehabilitating for School District lease/use and repurchase. — Mary Therese asked if we could organize a tour of the buildings sometime soon. C. ADG trustee presentation Dan Courtright and John O’Brien gave a practice presentation in preparation for the March 8 work session. The commissioners agreed to recommend the ADG’s as presented as a requirement. D. my-BV.com – History Lives Here page — Tabled. E. Historic preservation month discussion Mary Therese gave an update on a preservation coloring contest, which will kick off May 19-21. F. Updates from related organizations and general discussion tabled G. Next meeting date and location: Thursday, April 7th, 2022 at 3pm at the Airport VII. STAFF UPDATES - none VIII. ADJOURNMENT.
