Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Buena Vista Planning and Zoning Commission June 15, 2022 CALL TO ORDER A regular meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission was called to order at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at the Airport Conference Room by Chair Preston Larimer. Also present were Vice-Chair Lynn Schultz-Writsel, Commissioners Tony LaGreca, Craig Brown, and Tom Brown. Staff Present: Planning Director Joseph Teipel and Planning Technician Doug Tart. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Commissioner Larimer led in the Pledge of Allegiance. ROLL CALL Tart proceeded with the roll call and declared a quorum. AGENDA ADOPTION Commissioner Larimer called for approval of the agenda. Commissioner Schultz-Writsel motioned to adopt the agenda as presented, Motion #1 seconded by Commissioner Craig Brown. Motion carried. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Commissioner Tom Brown motioned for approval of the June 1, 2022 minutes as amended. Motion #2 was seconded by Commissioner Schultz-Writsel. Motion carried. PUBLIC COMMENT Public comments opened at 7:02 pm. With no comments, public comment was closed at 7:02 pm. NEW BUSINESS Teipel introduced an open discussion of the existing 3-mile plan and proposed changes by the staff to some of the Areas of Desired Growth (ADG). Staff asked the Commission to provide comments on each ADG and to discuss potential changes to the remaining areas. The changes proposed in the discussion are included as a separate attachment with the minutes. Teipel explained that updates to the 3-mile plan is the beginning processes for an updated Comprehensive Plan. Staff expects to update the existing 2004 Transportation Master Plan. STAFF / COMMISSION INTERACTION There will be a joint work session on Tuesday, June 28th with the Board of Trustees regarding the Carbonate Street development. Teipel stated that he expects the housing needs assessment to be ready the first week of July. This will likely be discussed during the July 20th Commission Meeting. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to come before the Commission, Commissioner Schultz-Writsel motioned to adjourn the meeting at 8:56 p.m. Chair Larimer seconded.
