Brown Act (the State local agency open meeting law) prohibits the City Council from acting on any matter that is not on the agenda. 5. GOAL SETTING SESSION Successful governments plan for the future. Not just the immediate future but also for the next generation and the generations after them. Many cities of similar size have vision statements that shed light on the values of the city and vice versa. This Goal Setting Session seeks to generate the values and outline a vision for Burlingame for generations to come. Homework: Before the meeting consider the five values (or more) that you think best define Burlingame; consider what assets we have and what we are missing in Burlingame, and consider what you would like the City to be in twenty-five years. 6.
