Burlington Public Library Board of Trustees Meeting Meeting Minutes December 1, 2015 In attendance: Maria Magana, Maria Pickering, Sarah Ward and Jane Sneeringer Excused: Heidi Yeoman Call to order at 6:06 p.m. Maria Magana moved to approve the November meeting minutes. Jane seconded. Motion passed. Communications: • The second annual Skagit Reads project was a big success. Around three hundred people attended the screening of Spare Parts at the Lincoln Theater in Mount Vernon. About one hundred students met with Spare Parts author, Joshua Davis. Kudos went to Jenny for a great job organizing the event. • Financial reporting was looking good except for a $600 advertising item which Sarah will research and report back on. Incident Reports: • A staff member tripped on the curb outside of the library and caught her chin. She needed five stiches. • A hypodermic needle was found on the library premises. Established protocol for disposal was followed. The installation of needle disposal receptacles in the library was discussed. Unfinished Business: • The Central Skagit Library Interlocal agreement is on hold until the situation with the City of Sedro Woolley is clarified. An update is anticipated in January. • The 2016 library budget was passed as submitted. • Jane moved to approve the payment of the bills. Maria Magana seconded. Motion passed. • Maria Magana moved to approve the library weeds and discards. Jane seconded. Motion passed. New Business: • The Port of Skagit County offered to pay for a three-year subscription to the business database, REFUSA. • The Burlington rotary club agreed to purchase a MakerBot 3D printer for the library. Tools and filament will also be ordered. Plans for introducing the new printer to the community include holding an open house and inviting Ivan Owen to attend. th • The Burlington Library Foundation has set April 16 as the date for the Books, Bites, Burgundy and Beyond event. • An edible book event was discussed.
