Burlington Public Library Board of Trustees Meeting February 4, 2020 Meeting minutes In attendance: Cindy Lint, Maria Magana, Carol Doyle, Janice Burwash, Heidi Yeoman Approval of minutes from the January meeting: Heidi moved, Carol seconded, passed Communications:  Financial Report. Looking quite close to accurate. Some small glitches around overtime wages category. Switch back to Springbrook is going smoothly.  Library had to close early two days during January snows.  The new monthly report format reflects the new goals adopted in the Strategic Plan. Unfinished Business:  Approval of weeds and discards for December and January: Heidi moved, Cindy seconded, motion passed.  Approval of bills for December and January: Cindy moved, Carol seconded, motion passed. Old Business:  The fees write-off ordinance did not get written, so has not been enacted. Hopefully this will occur this month.  Staff will be trained on use of SpringBrook for payroll on February 7.  Skagit Kids Read event will be March 13 at 10:00 AM with author Barney Saltzberg.  Children’s library programming is on hold in January due to staff changes.  The effort by the Library foundation and Rotary Club to find a sustainable plan for library cards for BESD kids residing outside city limits continues with a meeting on February 18 at 5:30. New Business:  A new reference librarian, Rachel Lunden, has been hired and will begin on February 26.  A presentation was made to the city council on the impact of staff cuts. The visual materials used in the presentation were shared with the board. Janice’s comments were quoted in an article in the Skagit Valley Herald. (perhaps slightly misquoted…)  There is talk of a possible consortium agreement among Skagit libraries, in very preliminary stages. Submitted by Cindy Lint Next meeting March 3, 6:00 PM
