Burlington Public Library Board of Trustees Meeting October 6, 2020 Meeting minutes In attendance via telephone: Sarah Ward, Cindy Lint, Maria Magana, Carol Doyle, Janice Burwash Approval of minutes from the September meeting: Carol moved, Maria seconded, motion passed. Communications:  Jennifer hosted virtual school visits with approximately 100 Bay View students through Zoom.  Grab Bag Service is popular. More than 23 kits were requested and completed this month.  Both Take & Make Teen kits and Early Learning kits are very popular; 55 kits were distributed through the children’s department, and 20 kits quickly distributed for teens.  Financials: spending is still frozen. The Foundation may be providing funding for new materials, as well as funds through the Foundation. Unfinished Business:  Weeds and discards: Cindy moved, Carol seconded, motion passed  Approval of bills for August: Carol moved, Maria seconded. Motion passed. New Business:  BPL and BESD have agreed to an interlocal agreement to provide library cards to all BESD students. Cindy moved and Maria seconded a motion to request that the city council approve this interlocal agreement. Motion passed. It will be valid through the end of this school year, but it is hoped that it will be renewed.  The 2021 budget rough draft was shared. The process is to be more collaborative with city council than in the past, and the Financial Director is leading the budget meetings.  Governor Inslee today declared that libraries are clear to re-open at 25% capacity.
