Burlington Public Library Board of Trustees Meeting February 2,, 2021 Meeting minutes In attendance via Zoom: Sarah Ward, Cindy Lint, Maria Magana, Carol Doyle, Janice Burwash Approval of minutes from the January 5, 2021 meeting: Carol moved, Maria seconded, motion passed. Communications: ● The Monthly Report highlights continued high Facebook post engagement. ● 16 new BESD library cards issued. ● Several staff are taking continuing education classes during the shutdown, including: Jenny starting courses for a certificate in Grant Writing, as well as a Consumer Health Information Specialization, and Janice participating in How To: Practical Guides for Supervisors. ● Two staff are expecting babies. ● Financial Report: The new year is mostly on track with the usual few glitches. Unfinished Business: ● Weeds and discards: Cindy moved, Maria seconded, motion passed ● Approval of bills for December: Cindyl moved, Maria seconded; motion passed. New Business: ● Jenny has taken on the project of genrefication of the DVD collection. This should ease finding a DVD in, say sci-fi or documentary genres. ● BPL has acquired 5 new WIFI hotspots to loan out, for four weeks at a time. These were purchased via a grant from the Washington State Library. ● Reopening Phases: Three authorities govern our reopening; The Governor’s recommendations, Skagit Public Health Department, and City Policy. The first stage of reopening will be public access to a computer lab set up in the meeting room. The planning for this is well-along. There is a cleaning plan and tech support already in place. Currently, only 50% of staff is allowed in the building at one time, and there is an “A Team” and a “B Team” in place. ● Saturday pick-up hours are still being evaluated with city administration.
