Burlington Public Library Board of Trustees Meeting July 6, 2021 Meeting minutes In attendance via Zoom: Sarah Ward, Cindy Lint, Maria Magana, Janice Burwash, Carol Doyle, Lettie Lance Approval of Minutes of May meeting: Carol moved, Maria seconded, motion passed. Communications:  Today was the first day fully open. Patrons seemed very happy.  Summer Reading is underway for both adults and children.  Publishers Weekly has run an article about a collaboration between the Burlington, Connecticut public library and our library which resulted from a patron’s misunderstanding whose website they were on.  Financial Report: on-track. Forecasts for next year’s budget seem to be stable with no sudden changes. Unfinished Business:  Approval of bills: Cindy moved, Carol seconded, motion passed.  Approval of weeds, discards: Lettie moved, Maria seconded, motion passed. New Business:  Opening update: The opening is going well. Mondays and Fridays, hours are 11-4. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursday hours are 11-6. Saturday hours will be added after the summer ends. There are still rigid cleaning standards. Fewer computers available due to social distancing guidelines. Masks are optional for vaccinated patrons.  Library/B-ESD partnership: Sarah will present at the July 8 city council meeting. The partnership will likely be extended for 25 years, with 5-year extensions possible thereafter. Edison’s librarian promoted signing up for a BPL card, and the response was great.  Board members agreed to meet in person August 3, in the large meeting room.
