Library Board of Trustees

Burlington Public Library Board of Trustees Meeting October 5, 2021 Meeting minutes In attendance: Sarah Ward, Cindy Lint, Maria Magana, Janice Burwash, Carol Doyle, Lettie Lance (by phone), Heidi Yeoman. Approval of Minutes of August meeting: Carol moved, Cindy seconded, motion passed. Communications:  September was a good month, with 45 new BESD student cards issued. Express printing requests have increased, and Youtube views are way up with a new “Judge a Book by its Cover” feature.  Financial Report: on-track. Unfinished Business:  Approval of bills: Heidi moved, Maria seconded, motion passed.  No Missing/presumed lost list was presented. It is thought that there are still many items patrons borrowed right before the pandemic closure, and a phone drive is planned to perhaps get these items returned.  The last City Council meeting was cancelled, so waiving old fees and fines will be taken up on October 14. New Business:  2022 Budget process is ongoing. There is likely to be a small decrease in either operating expenses or office supplies of around $2,000. Book budget remains intact at $80,000. Sarah still plans to ask for an additional children’s librarian.  NASA Grant Update: a press release will be coming out this week to inform the public of BPL being awarded the grant.
