Burlington Public Library Board of Trustees Meeting August 2, 2022 Meeting minutes In attendance: Cindy Lint, Maria Magana, Sarah Ward, Jenny Cole (arrived 6:13), Lettie Lance Approval of Minutes of July meeting: Maria moved, Lettie seconded, motion passed. Communications: ● There were several well-attended events in July. A discussion of Chicano art was attended by over 20, Touch-A-Truck attracted over 200. ● Summer reading continues. ● The library of things is underway, with many patron suggestions coming in. ● Financial Report is on-track. Old Business/Monthly Tasks: ● Approval of bills: Cindy moved, Lettie seconded, motion passed. ● Weeds and discards: no discussion. Still very light after Janice’s big purge. ● Policies and Procedures Manual Updates: A summary of the updates concerning client privacy was presented, along with the new text for the Manual Cindy moved to approve the revisions to the Policies and Procedures Manual, Lettie seconded. Motion passed. New Business: ● Staffing Update: Eleanor, the new Children’s Librarian, started August 1. The new Public Services Associate, Julie Goeman, will begin on August 18, and the new Teen Librarian, Sarah Schwager, will be on board September 1. ● Luchamania is back this year! As a partnership with Burlington-Edison School District, September 16, there will be two performances; an afternoon assembly at the High School, and an evening performance open to the public. ● The 2021 Annual Report was presented.
