most of our local elementary schools and Boys & Girls Clubs, reaching 400 kids who got
first-hand coding experience.
● The first rotation of student volunteers from Washington Vocational Services/the Attic
program has completed. Students spent 5 weeks volunteering and helped with tasks that
further their job readiness skills.
● Teens made Valentines for residents at Creekside.
● Homeschool Explorers program hosted the president of the Island County Astronomical
Society for a space-themed session.
● The two newsletters continue to enjoy high open rates.
● Financials - on track and routine.
Old Business/Monthly Tasks/Updates:
● Approval of bills: Cindy moved, Maria M. seconded, motion passed.
● No real discussion of weeds and discards, no lost items this month.
New Business:
● Officer Elections: Carol moved that Cindy assume the duties of President. Cindy
seconded, motion passed. Cindy moved to elect Maria Yazzolino for Vice
President/Secretary. Lettie seconded, motion passed.
● Reconsideration of Materials revisions: Cindy moved that these be approved. Maria Y.
seconded, motion passed.
● The Board reviewed a new Filming and Photography Policy. This still needs to be
reviewed by the City Attorney.
● Fines and Fees Policy revisions: Lettie moved to approve, Maria M. seconded, motion
passed.
● It was discovered that next month’s normal meeting date, April 4, falls during B-ESD’s
Spring break, and that three board members would be unable to attend. A tentative plan
has next month’s meeting on April 11, pending approval from authorities.
● There was robust discussion of citizen challenges to library materials, hence the
reconsideration of materials revisions. Additionally, some challenges of libraries by “First
Amendment Auditors” spurred the new filming and photography policy. It was agreed
that the library must have policies in place to appropriately respond to citizen concerns.
Next Trustees meeting date (tentative): April 11, 2023
