Burlington Public Library Board of Trustees Meeting Dec 5, 2023 Meeting Minutes In attendance: Maria Magana, Cindy Lint, Lettie Lance, Carol Doyle, Maria Yazzolino, Sarah Ward Approval of minutes for November 7 meeting: Lettie moved, Carol seconded; motion passed. Communications: • The first 3 sessions of Prime Time have concluded and served 160 people! Childrens programming has increased its frequency to include Saturdays. Teen volunteers have been making bookmarks to go in the food backpacks put together by the Interact Club at BEHS. BPL hosted staff from all Skagit county libraries for a staff training day. The Mt Vernon and Anacortes libraries have expressed interest in joining the consortium in 2024. A new door counter to be installed in January. • Financials are on track. 2024 Budget is under way. • No Incident reports. Old Business/Monthly Tasks/Updates: • Approval of bills: Carol moved, Cindy seconded; motion passed. • No real discussion of weeds and discards. New Business: • 7pm closure for Tues-Thurs to be implemented in 2024. During the hours of 7pm-8pm there has been little to no patron usage. • Conference Room Policy – adding “No Show” language. A) Groups that do not cancel their reservation in advance and fail to show up have an impact on room availability for other users. Room reservation privileges for the group and/or individual making the reservation will be revoked after two no-shows without cancellation. B) Library staff is not able to serve as a point of information for patrons with questions regarding meetings other than providing directions to the meeting.
