Burlington Public Library Board of Trustees Meeting February 6, 2024, 6:00pm Meeting Minutes In attendance: Maria Magana, Cindy Lint, Lettie Lance, Carol Doyle, Maria Yazzolino, Sarah Ward Approval of minutes for Jan 2, regular meeting: Lettie moved; Carol seconded; motion passed. Communications: • Youth Services in January involved the homeschoolers explorers program meeting outside the library at the Padilla Bay reserve to explore their touch tanks and exhibits while learning about estuaries. There was also a luminary making workshop and salmon life cycle education hosted by Holli Watne. New toddler and bilingual story times offerings have doubled. Teens participated in a pet photo contest and DIY shower steamers. The library is hosting 4 young adult volunteers from Washington Vocation services/The Attic for 6 weeks. Spanish outreach Associate Maria is spreading the word about both children’s and adult services. • 2024 YTD financials are on track. 2023 annual report to be available by March. • No incident reports. Old Business/Monthly Tasks/Updates: • Approval of bills: Cindy moved; Maria M. seconded; motion passed. • No real discussion of weeds and discards. New Business: • Library Consortium Update – Consortium card coming soon. Library one card to be issued for non-residents and anyone not qualifying for the consortium card. • Annual fines write off in memo dated January 4, 2024, $2,888.04. Lettie moved to approve; Carol seconded; motion passed. • Date of next policy review to be decided. It’s been about 2 years since the last review.
