Burlington Public Library Board of Trustees Meeting May 7, 2024 Meeting Minutes In attendance: Maria Magana, Cindy Lint, Lettie Lance, Carol Doyle, Maria Yazzolino, Sarah Ward Approval of minutes for March meeting: Maria M. moved; Lettie seconded; motion passed. Communications: • Door counter has been installed. • Youth services hosted its first coding club offsite at SCRC with much success, homeschoolers group visited the Tulip fields and got a behind the scenes tour, youth services also had multiple visits to local elementary schools, and the month closed out with a stuffed animal sleepover at the library. • Adult services joined Skagit Valley Genealogy to share about new library resources to help digitize family memories, there was another flower arranging class with the library’s own Rachel G., adultish crafters space had a tulip themed bracelet for the month, and the friends of the library held their bi-annual book sale with higher than ever sales. • Spanish/Bilingual services hosted Monk Donsang for his inner well-being series. • Financials are on track. Professional services look overspent, but they are covered by grants. L&I overspent, but that is in error. • No incident reports. Old Business/Monthly Tasks/Updates: • Approval of bills: Cindy moved; Maria M. seconded; motion passed. • No real discussion of weeds and discards. New Business: • Summer reading has lots in store for kids with a little less on the adult side. • Community needs assessment in the works – hiring and paying for a consultant with a focus on capital projects.
