Agenda Regular Meeting of the City Council Monday, August 14, 2006 I. Call to Order A. 6:15 p.m., for Council Members, City Staff and Reporter to meet at Council Room, then tour the Street Department and Electric Department Garages, then returning to inspect the Fire Department Garage and assemble back in the Council Room at 7:00 p.m. to conduct the Regular Meeting. Minutes of Past Meetings: To approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting held Monday, July 24, and Special Meeting held Monday, August 7, 2006. Addendum #1 B. Employee Appointments: Fire Chief Chuck Gavin recommends the appointment of the below listed individuals as Volunteer Caledonia Firefighters. - Kevin K. Schmidt - Timothy D. Schroeder - Nathan L. Speltz C. D. Council Action: 1 IV. Visitors and Communications A. City Staff: Summarize results of inspection tour of garage areas and receive suggestions for the needs of involved departments. The Council may wish to take staff recommendations under advisement and postpone any decisions to a future meeting. Council Action: B. Administrative Coordinator Topics: Council Action: C. Chamber of Commerce: Please see Addendum #2. Council Action: D. E. F. Communications 1. The Wheel, August 2006. Addendum 3 V. Claims A. Prepaid Claims: Consideration of the Prepaid Claims for July 2006. Addendum #4 Council Action: B. Claims Payable: Consideration of the Claims Payable for July 2006. Addendum #5 Council Action: 2 VI. Old Business A. Crossing Guard Agreement: Please see Addendum #6. In the event negotiations are not complete prior to the beginning of the school year, the City Council may attach an Exhibit to the Agreement for return to the School District stipulating that the wage rate amount payable for agreement purposes would not exceed $12.95 per hour. Council Action: B. C. VII. New Business A. Salvation Army HeatShare Program: The Salvation Army is making its annual request for the City Electric Utility to sign an agreement. The Council has never done so in prior years. I will explain in further detail at the meeting. Addendum #7. Council action: B. C. VIII. Clerk’s Report A. Traffic Signing: The enclosed letter is for your information only that you may be aware of requests made of the City and City division of authority for City streets vs. Houston County roads. Addendum #8. B. Police Department: Enclosed is the Officer Activity List and Officer Activity Summary for July 2006. Addendums #9 & #10. C. Employee Time Record: Enclosed is the Employee Time Record for pay period July 17 – 30, 2006. Addendum #11. D. Fire Relief Association: Enclosed is a Fire Relief Association reporting form pertaining to pension funds. Addendum #12. 3 E. State Constitutional Amendment: I will discuss this at the meeting. Addendum #13. F. Local Government Aid: The MN Department of Revenue has sent notice that our Local Government Aid for 2007 will be $787,371. It was $747,863 for 2006. A $39,508 increase. G. Sprague Woods: So you are informed, the Deed was prepared by City Attorney Murphy, recorded and filed now in the Clerk’s Office so the transfer is complete from Caledonia Green to the City in all respects.
