I implore you to quickly complete the transfer. My connection to Calistoga and the Speedway started in the mid 70's. That is when I was introduced to and fell in love with, not only auto racing, but also the beautiful City of Calistoga. For over 20 years I attended races at the Calistoga Speedway multiple times a year. I moved from California about 20 years ago and make several visits to the state every year. Most of those years I have been beckoned to attend a race at the Calistoga Speedway, my happy place. Not only is it one of only two half mile tracks in California, but it's also my favorite. Calistoga holds a special place in my heart. It is not only historic, but critical to the racing community in California. I once again ask you to complete the transfer of ownership as quickly as possible. While my family and friends live primarily in the Bay Area, I want to express my displeasure with the possibility of having the historic Calistoga Speedway (Fairgrounds) go away. Our social circle always looked forward to gomg up to Calistoga not only for the races, but also visiting the wineries, shopping along the strip, the restaurants, the various motels, and the spas-one stop shopping. Has anyone studied how many come to Calistoga during the Louis Vermeil or the World of Outlaws and the money that just those two events bring to Calistoga and the county. All benefit in Calistoga and environs .. I am sure you realize that the picturesque and beautiful Speedway is a gem as a ½ mile track and one of only two that are left-not to mention the history of the legends of the sport and their accomplishments at Calistoga's track. Writing this from Oklahoma City where we lost our race track of 60 years that was a historical landmark, just like Calistoga ..... Our situation in Oklahoma was a little different, the Okla State fair board decided they needed more parking, but then realized after they leveled it that the)' could not pave it, so it just b ecame a grassy area for nothing ..... of course they also realized .they didn't need more parking anyway as there attendance numbers are so far down from the old days ...... My dad Bud Carson was the promoter of that OKC fairgrounds speedway facility along with his MAR- CAR promo company from 1957 until he passed in 1991, no doubt he would b e so disappointed witb the demise of the Speedway, they called it progress, I disagree. I've been coming to Calistoga since the 70s as a driver that ran sprint car races coast to coast, then I became a series ilirector for the WORLD OF OUTLAW sprint car racing series, and currently I am on the board of directors for the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame, based in Knoxville Iowa ..... My favorite purpose these days is "promoting the future by preserving the past" ..... Calistoga has been one of those facilities that has so much history but also so much to offer, toe generations, past, present & future of race fans that are so passionate about their sport, don't take the Calistoga Speedway away from them.
