SPECIAL BOARD OF CONTROL Meeting Minutes A Special Board of Control meeting was held Friday, September 18, 2020 at 1:30 PM in the Mayor’s Conference Room. Board President, Mayor Bernabei called the meeting to order at 1:34 PM. Director of Public Safety Andrea Perry and Director of Public Service John Highman were present. Board Secretary Katie Wise was also present. There were no visitors present. The following items were for review/approval by the Board of Control: 9/18/2020 - Minutes 1. Ordinance 159/2020 Enter into contract with the United Way of Greater Stark County in the amount of $150,000.00 utilizing CRF funds to provide financial assistance to individuals and families directly impacted by a loss of income due to COVID-19. Discussion: No discussion. Motion: Mayor Bernabei made a motion to approve the above referenced contract. Director Highman seconded. Vote: 3 yeas 0 nays Motion carried. 2. Ordinance 159/2020 Enter into contract with Rex Pipe & Supply Co. in the amount of $69,835.23 utilizing CRF funds for the purchase of goods for the renovation of restrooms with the addition of touchless fixtures at Canton City Parks. Discussion: Per Director Highman, this is a follow to the item for Rex Pipe & Supply Co. that was on yesterday’s Board of Control agenda for the touchless fixtures to be installed at Canton City Hall. The touchless fixtures for this new agenda item will be installed at Canton City Parks. This contract is only for the purchase of the fixtures themselves. Employees from the City of Canton will install the fixtures. Motion: Mayor Bernabei made a motion to approve the above referenced contract. Director Highman seconded. Vote: 3 yeas 0 nays Motion carried. 3. Ordinance 159/2020 Enter into contract with Dell Marketing L.P. in the amount of $449,359.50 utilizing CRF funds for the purchase of 250 laptops, software, and needed accessories to facilitate true work from home through a VPN if necessary. Discussion: Per Director Highman, the IT Department came up with the number of 250 based on the amount of GoToMyPC and work from home requests that were utilized in 2020. Motion: Mayor Bernabei made a motion to table the above referenced contract. Director Highman seconded. Vote: 3 yeas 0 nays Motion carried. Adjournment: Director Highman seconded. Vote: 3 yeas 0 nays Motion carried. Adjournment: Mayor Bernabei made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Director Perry seconded. Vote: 3 yeas 0 nays Meeting adjourned: 1:34 PM
