PRESIDENT SHERER: We’ll start… we’ll start it over. KIMBERLY BELL: Yeah. PRESIDENT SHERER: You’re good. KIMBERLY BELL: 1733 Morris Avenue. You know, I… I like to think of certain people. I refer them to TV shows I watch and everything. And sometimes I get up here and I think of The Sopranos that I… I sit in front of, a couple of you members. But that’s how… that’s just how I… um, get through with some things in life by certain TV shos… TV shows I watch. But I had a su… my niece, she just… she’s on maternity leave now and she’s having problems paying her rent. And it dawned on me with cert… with certain resources that the City might… can help with. I went to the one center last week where they… they had a meeting for… at the resource at about the money the government… the City gets, and I gave them a letter, but I also thought of something. When… when… when you… when certain people get food stamps, they have to do certain amount of hours to get those food stamps, so to help with paying rent why don’t… I don’t have it all ironed out, maybe somebody who’s smarter than me can think of something, a way to do this. Have them… have… have these people who can’t afford to pay rent on certain ones. Have them do like a certain amount of hours, and if they don’t do the hours for that month, their rent won’t get paid. This young generation, they don’t want to work. They don’t… they… they’ll go to work and get one pay check… one or two pay checks and quit their job. And then they’re stuck paying the… they’re not paying their rent. My sister lives in… well, she was living in one of the ABC homes behind Highland Park and her daughter’s on… in one of the houses on Belden owned by ABC, COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS JOURNAL 111 JOURNAL PAGE 359 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OCTOBER 30, 2023 which was owned by ABCD, then (inaudible) Realty took it over. Now another rent… rental agency has it now. How is the rent $1,000.00 in those places? I… I… I’m not understanding… why would I pay rent to live behind Highland Park and pay $1,000.00? Somebody needs to look into this because this doesn’t sound right. $1,000.00 and they’re… and they’re constantly getting evicted or moving out because they can’t afford that… that… that rent. And… and once they move out, they’ll put another family in that same kind of situation and then they’ll get an eviction or get evicted from that. And it’s an ongoing cycle that somebody needs to listen to what I’m telling you about this cause I brought it to your attention so many times about these properties, and no… and my sister just moved out last week. I have pictures of other people moving out, and they can’t afford them. I have more to talk about, but I’ll save it for next week. PRESIDENT SHERER: Thank you. (Buzzer sounds) Thank you, Miss Bell. Our next speaker is Mister… (Buzzer sounds)… Mr. David Kerestes. Mr. Kerestes, could you please state your name and residential address, please. DAVID KERESTES: My name is David Kerestes. I’m at 715 Second Street NE, Refuge of Hope. I’m here tonight to speak of unethical conduct. This is a picture of my face. I was beaten over at the hype… uh, Andrew, Oser, Spaulding and Chrome, a couple of Canton affiliated police officers from what I understand with 16 cameras. As I tried to call for help… uh, they wouldn’t let me use my phone. There are many violations in crime, but they couldn’t get anything off the cameras, nor could they get anything from the 200 witnesses. At that time I spoke to the DEN Command Center in Washington, the Ohio Attorney General, the Perry Police Department, and I.A. Bosley and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency about Veterans pushing drugs, and the Department of the Interior hiding the character of our soldiers today. We don’t have a draft anymore. We’re freeing felons and giving them uniforms and then protecting them under entitlement. And they do have entitlement, I believe that. But I also believe that when Jim Riddell, a Canton police officer from Dessert Storm beat my daughter black and blue, I shouldn’t have had Army (inaudible) accusing me of that, nor should I have needed $10,000.00 to prove it. And then when it was proven and Patty Millsap later said it was the Canton Police officer and not her father, it all went away. Judge Hoffman told her… my daughter’s advocate, if you speak like that, you’ll never work here again. And then when I went to Rick Hoffman to get help with the Building Department, with the railing systems and the thievery behind the breach of the lease and the acquirement of State funds illegally, I didn’t get no help from him. Really didn’t expect it after what I heard Hoffman tell him. Um, I’m writing these things up as a writ of truth because John Hornbrook gave away my right to wife’s pension because she was living with Jim Riddell and he did her div… he did Jim Riddell’s divorce up in Summit. So I believe the man had conflicting interests. I’ve never seen nothing righteous in your law nor your police department. I think you’re erroneous with Bobby Cutts and under U.S. Title Code 18, Section 242, section where abuse is good enough. Thank you. PRESIDENT SHERER: Thank you, Mr. Kerestes. Uh, Laura Groves, 3922 Edgefield Avenue NW here in Canton. Uh, the subject, once again, is trap, neuter and return. Each of the past weeks I have spoken, I have offered you information. I have sent emails with educational material… PRESIDENT SHERER: Miss Groves… LAURA GROVES: Yes. PRESIDENT SHERER: Could you turn the mic over just a little bit and kinda speak directly into it. Um… and I’m hopeful that each of you have been… have found the time to be able to look over those materials. Tonight, I would like to give you a brief overview of what we are offering and what we are seeking. What can Alter Clinic bring to the table? We can prompt the beginning of a Community Cat Program utilizing volunteers. We can develop fundraising strategies to cover all or part of the services… um, that the individuals are unable to fund. Uh… we can initiate policies and procedures for conducting tasks at hand, develop a communication system between the Community Cat Program Coordinator, volunteers and community members, develop a budget for administrative costs and identify target areas with assistance of councilpersons and community members. What we are asking from the City Council: cooperation, support and discussion, please, and the realization that the past issues are no longer relevant, to move past those and see that this discussion is something that vastly different, the willingness to change ordinance, to make it possible for us to trap within city limits, the removal of feeding bans and finally, partial financial assistance and support of the program. Tonight’s request, please read the study that I gave you in your packets this evening. I think you’ll discover that this is not just about the cats, it is also very much about the people, your people. Get involved, get serious and if you would like to hear from more residents than just me, let me know. I can have people come and tell you their stories as well.
