SKYLARK BRUCE: My name is Skylark Bruce and I live at 2216 Bollinger Ave Northeast. Recently, the City of Canton opted to request a special prosecutor for charges against former CPD officers Casto and Momirov. This was done to avoid a conflict of interest, I agree this was a good move. I don’t know if this decision was made by Jason Reece or William Sherer or someone else. This situation should not be handled in house but, that’s where the pats on the back stop. According to a Repository story by Nancy Molnar, the special prosecuter is declining to press charges on the flimsiest of excuses. Although the special prosecuter, Craig Morgan, who is also Akron’s Chief Prosecuter, found plently of reasons to press charges, he isn’t gonna, and he isn’t gonna because he didn’t get a phone call or an email or passenger pigeon. Apparently he thinks that Bobby DeChello, the lawyer for the civillan victims in these cases, is suppose to hold his hand in order for him to do his job. Whining about the trail going cold is what men do on dating sites. In offline life we stil have to do our jobs and follow the law even when someone else doesn’t do everything we want from them. That has nothing to do with any choices by their lawyer and if Morgan won’t do it because … because he got his knickers in a twist or his ego bruised, then the City of Canton should find a new special prosecuter. An extra special prosecuter if that’s what it takes to get the job done. The people of this city deserve more than butt hurt officials taking out petty disputes on them. Speaking of petty officials, Madam President, you were wrong last week when you rudely shushed Brandi Smith, the last person to get up to speak. A staffer from the Mayor’s office moved over the sit next to Brandi to get her contact info during the remaining minutes of the meeting. Given Brandi’s ordeal over the past two years, and how visibly distraught she was, it is nothing short of disrespect from you to shush her as her voice accidently rose in volume. She’s trying to protect her children and her own life. You’re trying to run a meeting. One of these things is not like the other. Have a litte decency. In my final seconds I would like to invite the decent people of this city, to a vigil in memory Zachary Fornash who was murdered by Canton Police one year ago, Thursday. Please join his mother, Cassandra White, at 7 PM on Thursday at Skyline Terrance, “The P”, to remember his life. Just as a reminder last week I mentioned not having anything to be thankful for. As I stood outside last Monday after the meeting, for one of you to walk by me and make eye contact and say “Thank you Jesus, I have so much to be thankful for.” You are a heartless women and I hope you never lose a child because those comments will come back to bite you. So, under new business, I want to talk about 15 year old Jasmer … Jasmier Tucker. He is the child that Akron police killed on Thanksgiving Day. You know how sick I am of reaching out to mothers that their child has been child by the police? But, I will continue my mission … those … so that someone is Zachary’s voice. This is the statement from the Akron City Councilmen about the situation, “ Effective de- escalation techniques can save lives and are essential for reducing the likelihood of tragic outcomes in high stress situations. We must invest in stratigies and training that equipt officers to safely manage incounters with indiviuals who may pose a threat while protecting everyone involved. De-escalation needs to happen.” When will this city officials realize you need to have this mans thinking. Maybe, when the city goes broke trying to cover all the expensies from court hearing and everything else (inaudible) … police brutaliy and it will cost the city. Because the people you’ve allowed your officers to hurt, are coming for you. So many people die everyday from officer involved shootings and most of them are in poor areas. Here’s a few reasons the city is not fixing the problems in these areas because they are to worried about more weathly people coming in and seconded of all police accountability and training. To end this, which Skylark already touched on, I would like to invite everyone to join us Thursday night at Skyline Terrance for a candlelight vigil at 7 PM, organized by Skylark Bruce. In memory that it will be one year that Officer Garret Moreno shot my son down for no reason. I don’t even remember much about this past year other then, I will always remember watching my son get gunned down and choking on his own blood and I hope and pray Moreno suffers everyday of his life of that vision. Now, speaking of bullies I’m going to continue to confront and call out here, the City of Canton and the Canton City Police Department until I can get some answers on accountiblity. Now you have some papers that I gave you there that I want an explantion for and that’s just the tip of the iceburg of what I want y’all to come to the table about. Now, July 29th, 2019 my home was raided by four Canton City Police Officers, two CPS Agents off of a grudge and accusation alone. I was accused of being under the influence of a drug that I’ve never touched in my life and you had me strip my children of their clothes to show they had no marks and weren’t beaten. You went through my drawers, my cupboards, my rooms, my closet. No warrents, no permission to do such. And then, you steal my children on a JR6, not because I’m under the influence of the substance that you guys were accusing me of but, because you didn’t like be being contentious about your actions and telling you something about your damn selves in the process of. Now, that all happened on your watch Andrea Perry and I want answers from you and why it’s okay for your officers and you to be able to enforce policy off of phone calls and actuations alone. From those who have titles and yet you don’t know the laws or our basic due process entitled to us and you’re condescending enough to blatently tell us how little they care. And it’s not a question of whether or not you guys have done it, it’s a question to why and then your level of entitlement to think that you have no an … and you don’t have to answer for any of it. I want to know who you guys really think you are to slander us as we’re crazy when we try to sit there and y’all have already … and … and try to confront y’all and y’all have made us victims already. Now some of us aren’t looking for lawsuits, you can’t be bought off or intimidated in just to shut us up and that tends to happen when you sit there and screw around with peoples kids. And you guys want to keep underestimating me and the collaborated efforts of what the hell a village is capable of and I’m going to repeatly have to keep coming back here to tell ya “I told you so.” Now, when are you going to have the courage to come to the table and talk to me? Uh … we’re working with Canton for All People to develop that … those sites, into affordable housing, low income housing for the Shorb Neighborhood uh … and we are also working to keep the train station intact and develop it into a community area so we’re not going to remove that asset from the community. Uh … we want to build around it and build up that neighborhood and also there should be breaking grounds soon on the Canton Inside for an additional 50 units of affordable low income housing for the Shorb Neighborhood.
