City of Cape May Zoning Board of Adjustment Meeting Minutes Thursday, January 26, 2023 Opening: The meeting of the City of Cape May Zoning Board of Adjustment was called to order by Chairperson Diane Hutchinson at 6:00 PM in the City Hall Auditorium. In compliance with the Open Public Meetings Act, adequate notice was provided. Roll Call: Mrs. Hutchinson Present Mrs. Werner Present Ms. Hesel Present Mr. Ledwin Present Mrs. Notch Present Mr. Venuto Present Mr. Walsh Present Ms. Sheehan (Alt. 1) Present Marvin Zektzer (Alt. 2) Present Also Present: Richard King, Board Solicitor Craig Hurless, PE, PP, CME, Board Engineer Karen Keenan, Board Assistant Oaths of Office: Oaths of Office: Members with expiring terms and new members Stacy Sheehan and Marvin Zektzer took the Oath of Office. Chairperson Hutchinson advised the Board she will be moving and will remain on the Board through the February meeting. Solicitor King thanked Chairperson Hutchinson for her service to the Board. Chairperson: Motion made by Mrs. Hutchinson to nominate Terri Werner for Chairperson, seconded by Mr. Ledwin and carried 6-0. Those in favor: Mrs. Hutchinson, Ms. Hesel, Mr. Ledwin, Mrs. Notch, Mr. Walsh, Mr. Venuto. Those opposed: None. Those abstaining: Mrs. Werner. Vice Chairperson: Motion made by Mrs. Werner to nominate Sam Venuto as Vice Chairperson, seconded by Mrs. Notch and carried 6-0. Solicitor King thanked the Board for the appointment. Board Engineer: Motion made by Mrs. Hutchinson to appoint Craig R. Hurless, PE, PP, CME of Polistina & Associates as Board Engineer, seconded Ms. Hesel and carried 7-0. Those in favor: Mrs. Hutchinson, Ms. Hesel, Mr. Ledwin, Mrs. Notch, Mr. Walsh, Mr. Venuto, Mrs. Werner. Those opposed: None. Those abstaining: None. Engineer Hurless thanked the Board for the appointment. Meeting Dates and Time: Motion made by Ms. Hesel to adopt the meeting dates and time for the 2023 Zoning Board of Adjustment, with no change to the meeting time, seconded by Mrs. Notch and carried 7-0. Those in favor: Mrs. Hutchinson, Ms. Hesel, Mr. Ledwin, Mrs. Notch, Mr. Walsh, Mr. Venuto, Mrs. Werner. Those opposed: None. Those abstaining: None. Official Newspapers: Motion made by Mrs. Notch to designate Cape May County Herald and the Press of Atlantic City as official newspapers for public noticing purposes, seconded by Mrs. Hutchinson and carried 7-0. Resolution(s): Motion made by Mr. Ledwin to adopt Resolution number 01-26-2023: 1, accepting Zoning Board Attorney contract, seconded by Mr. Walsh and carried 7-0. Motion made by Mrs. Hutchinson to adopt Resolution number 01-26-2023: 4, John Kilgannon, 620 ½ Hughes Street, seconded by Mr. Walsh and carried 4-0. Motion made by Mr. Walsh to adopt Resolution number 01-26-2023: 5, William and Karen Wenzel, 105 Queen Street, seconded by Mr. Venuto and carried 5-0. Minutes: Motion was made by Mrs. Notch to adopt the meeting minutes of December 15, 2022, seconded by Mr. Walsh and carried 5-0.
