City of Cape May Historic Preservation Commission Special Meeting Minutes April 2, 2026 Opening: The regular meeting of the City of Cape May Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) was called to order by Chairman John Boecker at 6:02 pm. Pledge of Allegiance Roll Call Mr. Boecker, Chair Present Mr. Testa, Vice Chair Present Mr. Carroll Absent Mr. Stevenson Present Ms. Pessagno Absent Ms. Wilson Stridick Absent Ms. Decker Present Mr. Hammeran (Alternate I) Present Mr. Kurtz (Alternate II) Absent Also Present: Chris Gillin-Schwartz, Esq., HPC Solicitor, Lauren Emerick, HPC Secretary APPLICATIONS East Lynne Theater Company – 715 Franklin Street, Block 1080, Lot 30, KC 717 Franklin Street, Block 31, Lot 31, NC Temporary Trailer Mr. Testa recused himself from the application. President of the East Lynne Theater Company, Susan Tischler, Executive Director, Mark David Boberick, and architect, Janice Woodcock, presented a plan for installing a temporary trailer. The applicants stated that they are proposing to put the trailer in a location that is less visible from Franklin Street. They also designed the connector to look more like the building. Ms. Decker commented that it was a long time for a temporary structure. Ms. Tischler stated that they believe it will be sooner but have to wait for the funds from grants to build an addition. The commissioners expressed that they would like to see landscaping or screening near the trailer. Motion made by Mr. Bocker to approve the application with the conditions that the approval is temporary and shall expire on April 30, 2029 and the applicant shall submit movable landscaping details and selections to be reviewed by the HPC Review Committee seconded by Ms. Decker and carried 4-0. Those in favor: Ms. Decker, Mr. Hammeran, Mr. Stevenson, Mr. Boecker. Those opposed: none. Those abstaining: Mr. Testa DISCUSSION ADJOURNMENT HPC Minutes March 16, 2026 1 Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Mr. Boecker at 6:22 p.m. with all in favor.
