OLD BUSINESS: Mike Jones-Planning Board • No new updates, ongoing continued projects. • No April Planning Board Meeting Councilmember Bodnar- City Council • Land swap final approved. • Police station plan moving forward working on final plans for the fall. • Lafayett Street Park phase 1 began construction on opens space areas, dog park relocation and bocce ball court, completion date goal July 4th. • Lafayett Street Park nature trail construction continues with an open date estimated of May 15th, 2025. • Lafayett Street Park phase 2 information to come. • Harbor View Park’s final plan was approved by the county; construction start date goal fall 2025 and completing goal of Spring 2026. • ADA beach mats delivery this week, installation will begin at Convention Hall to a goal of Madison.  • Beach Ave concrete walls are being resurfaced and cleaned up by the Cove Beach area. • Parking meters are being removed along Beach Ave and replaced with a mobile app and pay kiosk. The city will offer 3 form parking payments with meter locations, a park mobile app and pay kiosk. Gretchen Whitman • ANJEC grant continues to be worked on. David Scheffler • ANJEC memberships have been approved and paid, members should receive membership information shortly. NEW BUSINESS David Scheffler o Dark Skies event discussion of continuing this event for 2025. o Dark Skies optional locations the Lafayette Street Nature Trail. o 2025 Environmental Budget is in temporary status with an available amount of $2075.00 OPEN TO PUBLIC • No Comments. DISCUSSION: Gretchen • The Nature Center of Cape May has kept left over dune grass from Dune Day that is available for use. • May 3rd plant sale at the Nature Center of Cape May and May 10th Garden Club plant sale at Rotary Park, volunteers may be needed. Charlotte Todd • Earth Day 2025 marks its 55th anniversary. • Earth Day’s goal is to focus on protecting the health of our air and water supply. • The first official Earth Day gathers 20 million people countrywide to celebrate. • Food recycling opportunities and best practice webinar available through AJEC on zoom April 29th, 2025. • Cape May City may have some opportunities for food waste programs. David Scheffler • Poverty Beach clean-up schedule for Earth Day.
