YEAGER Councilmember City of Cape May Environmental Commission Minutes November 26th, 2024 ROLL CALL Kim Gronendahl Absent Michael Jones Present Barbara Meimbresse Present Sarah Stevenson Present Charlotte Todd Present Gretchen Whitman Present David Scheffler Present Justine Gaver-Margiel Present Angela Judge Absent Chris Hajduk Absent Randell Nuschke Present Councilmember Mike Yeager Absent PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE MINUTES: The minutes from October 22nd, 2024- Gretchen Whitman made the motion, Sarah Stevenson seconded, all approved with no changes. OLD BUSINESS: Mike Jones-Planning Board nothing to report. Councilmember Mike Yeager- City Council nothing to report. David Scheffler- Spoke about the Dark Skies event being successful by attracting 550 attendees. Charlotte Todd • Spoke about the City of Cape May receiving from Sustainable Jersey a Silver Certified award and receiving Sustainability Champion (Small City) award. • Spoke about adding local thrift shops to the Environmental Commission web page to help promote clothes recycling. OPEN TO PUBLIC • No Comments DISCUSSION: Michael Jones • Announced Hope Gains resigned from the Environmental Commission. • No Environmental Commission meeting for December 2024. Charlotte Todd- Environment briefings around Cape May and clean energy solutions. • Charlotte spoke about recycling clothing and the opportunities. Sarah Stevenson • Sarah shared updates and certifications for Sustainable NJ 2025. Dune Signage and location • Justine and David recommended to place on dunes between Congress St. and Perry St. • Gretchen recommended to place on dunes between Jackson St. and Decatur St. • Gretchen recommended sponsorships for dune signs. ADUOURNMENT: A motion to adjourn the meeting at 11:48 a.m. Next meeting is Tuesday, January 28st, 2025, at 11 a.m. in Cape May City Hall auditorium.
