Minutes for Cape May Bike & Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BAPAC)

Members: Terry DiUbaldi (via phone), Jim Moffat, Hilary Pritchard, Jeff Vecere, Mike Yeager (City
Council Rep).
Other Attendee(s): City Manager, Paul Dietrich; Deputy Mayor WCapeMay George Dick
Absent: Chief Fashaw (out of town), Holly Tilfholtz
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: motion and passed.
CITY MANAGER REPORT
Roundabout plans on Perry/West Cape May by CVS. 2025?
o In current plan, bikes best to walk on sidewalks….
o Discussion about little Myrtle Ave one way…..
Elmira stop signs at Venice: A study found similar situation warranted; 10% reduced accidents.
Lafayette completion by June; gave explanation of bumpouts
Lower end of Beach Ave is city street; to be addressed at a later time.
Perry/Jackson by Colliers; being addressed with dashlines for guidance.
BAPAC inquired that intersection of Bank/Decatur/Lafayette
o Not to be forgotten of dire need to produce safe crossing (city and county collaboration?)
o Inquired if city lot by theatre can be beautified and add multiple bike racks (good spot/don’t have to
cross Laf). Keep handicap spots; eliminate regular parking. (This would help the town workers too.)
George Dick, an avid bicycler
o Suggested a new routing, safer from WCM that he personally does all the time: Leamy to Park to
Grant.
o Mentioned Bike Coalition and PHL bike lanes.
o County committee for Safe Roads (old railroad tracks). BAPAC mentioned ACE property near
Public Works.
OLD BUSINESS:
GPI Consultants meeting coming up, subjects to address:
o Resurrect Application for Bike Friendly Town /correct name?
o Jitney mapping?
o Sidewalks. (an aside: suggested that when a house gets sold, stipulation is to fix sidewalk
o Wayfaring island-wide.
Map:
o Suggest just a QRCode rather than printout. To be discussed further at time of completion of road
construction.
o Contact Google Maps for the bike routing
New potential BAPAC members to apply at clerk’s office. Bob Morris has been asked to rejoin.

March 13, 2024. Special guest GPI Consultants, re: $200K grant.
April 10, 2024. Special guest County Engineer, Bob Church
