CITY OF CAPE MAY CAPE MAY BEACH SAFETY COMMITTEE Meeting Minutes COMMITTEE MEETING: Monday, September 26th at 4:30pm LOCATION: Auditorium Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag Roll Call In attendance: 1. Steven J. Steger, Jr-Citizen, Chairman 2. Christine N. DiDonato-Citizen/Secretary 3. Lorraine Baldwin, Council Liaison 4. Michael Eck -Deputy Cape May Fire Department (for Alex Coulter) 5. William Kurtz 6. Katherine Rafter-Citizen 7. Marc DeBlasio-consultant 8. Tom Medvecky-CMBP/Educator 9. Harry Back-Citizen, Supervisor of Beaches In abstention: 10. Eck) and Chief Back Sub committees review and critique 2022 Goals and progress. Brainstorm for 2023 Goals 1. PA System Sub Committee Sub-Committee: Lorraine, Harry, Alex/Mike, Steve, Eric Coordinator: Harry Back Community Members involved: Joe McLaughlin-consultant Support needed: Projected Completion Date: 2023 2. Beach Replenishment Sub Committee: Harry Back, Lorraine Baldwin, Roy Sundstrom, Christine DiDonato, Yogi Coordinator: Lorraine Baldwin Updates and Next Steps: • RFQ by next meeting, for Council to review/approve • Stockton or other education institution • Possibly gratis? Community Members involved: Marc DeBlasio Support needed: Support from City Manager and Mayor Projected Completion Date: 2024/2 year estimate. 3. Beach and Surf Zone Safety: Educating the Public Sub-Committee: Tom, Steve, Harry, Christine, Coordinator: Tom Medvecky 2023 Goals and Planning - establish format, group size • Repeat presentations/program vs. one-time visits? • Ideal lead time for schools is 3 to 4 months Community Members involved: TBD Support needed: Support from City Manager and Mayor Projected Completion Date: will begin rollout in 2022. 2023 completion. 4. Marketing Sub-Committee: Tom, Steve, Sara, Eric, Katie Coordinator: Steve Steger 2023 Goals and Planning • CMBP website update and forward looking goals • Literature and videos status and beginning plan for 2023 o Sarah to continue video editing o Where to distribute – hotel managers, realty/rental offices, obtain air bnb list?
