The meeting was called to order by Chair Inger Hiller at approximately 5 p.m. Staff in
attendance included Jeff Brauer, Mike Kilman, Maia Yates, Brian Peterson and Matt Roth.

TOUR OF BUTTERFIELD CROSSING PARK RENOVATION PROJECT
Staff provided a tour of the Butterfield Crossing Park renovation project. Highlights discussed
included:
- ADA accessibility improvements
- Irrigation upgrades
- An opened up plaza that will feature patterned and colored concrete
- Restroom facility upgrades to ensure ADA accessibility and improve general amenities
- A welcoming entrance to the Possibilities Playground area with steps and musical
instruments; future signage and plaques to be installed to describe amenities and recognize
donors of the playground
- The previous courts were moved and new tennis courts with LED lights and a basketball
court were installed; new and additional pickleball courts were also placed
- An overview of the playground equipment such as zip lines, slides, a we-go-round and
additional inclusive amenities
- A barefoot walk area next to the sensory wall designed and created by participants in
Therapeutic Recreation
- A new fitness course
Staff also confirmed that a grand reopening event was scheduled from 5-8 p.m. on Friday,
June 9 and would feature a DJ, food trucks, adaptive sports and more.
Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting Minutes April 19, 2023
Commission members expressed excitement over the park's upgrades. Member Shawn
L'Esperance asked if staff had any concerns related to noise generated from the pickleball
courts. Staff noted that they have researched potential noise reduction solutions, but
explained that they are too costly to incorporate into the project at this time.
