City Council Joint Meeting with Legislators

CITY COUNCIL – JOINT MEETING WITH LEGISLATORS City Hall Conference Room 2 January 31, 2025 The City Council held a joint meeting with local legislators at 1:30 p.m. on January 31, 2025 to discuss the 2025 legislative session. The following persons were in attendance: Mayor Danny Laudick; Council Members Gil Schultz, Chris Latta, Daryl Kruse, Dustin Ganfield, and Hannah Crisman; Local Legislators Dave Sires, Bob Kressig, and Derek Wulf; City Lobbyists Tom Cope and Jon Murphy; staff members Ron Gaines, Jennifer Rodenbeck, Grayson Rowlet, Chase Schrage, Stephanie Sheetz, and Kelly Stern; and three representatives from the public. Mayor Laudick called the meeting to order and introductions were made. Each state legislator discussed what committees they serve on and issues they are currently working on. Tom Cope outlined the various 2025 legislation of interest to the City of Cedar Falls. These legislative issues include ADUs, civil service system changes, property tax legislation, and other potential legislation. Lastly, there was discussion about continued discussion between the state legislators and local elected officials. The meeting was adjourned at 2:55 pm by consensus.
