MINUTES OF THE CENTENNIAL CITY COUNCIL Regular City Council Meeting 7:00 PM Tuesday, December 12, 2023 A Regular Meeting of the City Council was held on this date in the Council Chambers at 13133 E. Arapahoe Road, Centennial, Colorado. A full and timely notice of this meeting had been posted and a quorum was present. 1 Call to Order Mayor Piko called the meeting to order at 7:15 PM. 2 Roll Call Those present were: Mayor Piko Council Member Carnes Council Member Moon Council Member Sweetland Council Member Maurer Council Member Sutherland Council Member Holt Council Member Alston Council Member Sheehan Those absent were: None Also present were: Matthew Sturgeon, City Manager Chris Price, Deputy City Attorney Elisha Thomas, Deputy City Manager Eric Eddy, Assistant City Manager Wyatt Peterson, Senior Management Analyst Christina Lovelace, Interim City Clerk Summer Greenwood, Records Management Specialist 3 Pledge of Allegiance Mayor Piko led the Pledge of Allegiance. 4 Recognition and Acknowledgement of former Mayor Cathy Noon. Council Member Holt moved to Approve ORDINANCE NO. 2023-O-13, AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CENTENNIAL, COLORADO AMENDING SECTION 2- 1-20 OF THE CENTENNIAL MUNICIPAL CODE TO AMEND THE COMPENSATION PAYABLE TO CITY ELECTED OFFICIALS TO COMMENCE JANUARY, 2026. Council Member Alston seconded the motion. With Mayor Piko, Council Member Alston, Council Member Carnes, Council Member Holt, Council Member Maurer, Council Member Moon, Council Member Sheehan, Council Member Sutherland, Council Member Sweetland voting AYE, and (None) voting NAY; Absent: 0. THE MOTION Passed. 13 Consideration of Resolutions a RESOLUTION NO. 2023-R-66, A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF CENTENNIAL, COLORADO APPOINTING A COUNCIL MEMBER TO THE FIBER COMMISSION FOR A TERM OF THREE YEARS Council Member Maurer nominated Council Member Sheehan to serve on the Fiber Commission. Council Member Sutherland seconded the motion. Council Member Sheehan accepted the nomination. With Mayor Piko, Council Member Alston, Council Member Carnes, Council Member Holt, Council Member Maurer, Council Member Moon, Council Member Sheehan, Council Member Sutherland, Council Member Sweetland voting AYE, and (None) voting NAY; Absent: 0. Council Member Carnes seconded the motion. Chris Price, Deputy City Attorney, gave clarification on certain language contained in the Ordinance and provided a recommended amendment to Ordinance 2023-O-13. With Mayor Piko, Council Member Alston, Council Member Carnes, Council Member Holt, Council Member Maurer, Council Member Moon, Council Member Sheehan, Council Member Sutherland, Council Member Sweetland voting AYE, and (None) voting NAY; Absent: 0. Council Member Sutherland moved to amend ORDINANCE NO. 2023-O-13, AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CENTENNIAL, COLORADO AMENDING SECTION 2-1-20 OF THE CENTENNIAL MUNICIPAL CODE TO AMEND THE COMPENSATION PAYABLE TO CITY ELECTED OFFICIALS TO COMMENCE JANUARY, 2026 WITH THE RECOMMENDED AMENDMENT.
