Welcome: Mayor Jess Anderson [25-0539] Mayor Anderson called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m. 2. Comments by Members of the 2023-2025 Council [25-0540] Mayor Anderson expressed gratitude to Council Member Searing for his service. Council Member Searing reflected on his term, highlighting constituent service, improvements to public infrastructure such as skate parks and sidewalks, and collaboration with Town staff. He emphasized the importance of local government and thanked the community and his colleagues. 3. Resolution of Appreciation: Council Member Adam [25-0541] Searing Council Member Sharp read the resolution honoring Council Member Searing for his contributions to environmental stewardship, public health, parks and recreation, and civic engagement. Oath of Office for 2025-2027 Mayor-Elect Jess Anderson [25-0542] District Court Judge Hathaway Pendergrass administered the oath of office to Mayor-Elect Jess Anderson. Following the oath, Mayor Anderson resumed her role to officiate the remainder of the meeting. RECESS. (3-5 minutes) A brief recess was held to allow for nameplate changes and setup for incoming Council members. The meeting resumed at 6:21 p.m. Oaths of Office for 2025-2029 Council Members-Elect 5. Council Member-Elect Camille Berry [25-0543] District Court Judge Hathaway Pendergrass administered the oath of office to Council Member Berry. 6. Council Member-Elect Wes McMahon [25-0544] Clerk of Superior Court Mark Kleinschmidt administered the oath of office to Council Member McMahon. 7. Council Member-Elect Paris Miller-Foushee [25-0545] District Court Judge Joal Broun administered the oath of office to Council Member Miller-Foushee. 8. Council Member-Elect Louie Rivers, III [25-0546] Clerk of Superior Court Mark Kleinschmidt administered the oath of office to Council Member Rivers. New Business 9. Election of Mayor Pro tempore. [25-0547] A motion was made by Council Member Ryan, seconded by Council Member McMahon, that the Council approved a motion to elect Council Member Berry as mayor pro tem. The motion carried by a unanimous vote. 10. Appointments for Various Council Liaisons and [25-0548] Representatives A motion was made by Council Member Ryan, seconded by Mayor pro tem Berry, that the Council approve a motion to make appointments for various Council liaisons and representatives. Closing Comments [25-0549] Mayor Anderson shared reflections and thanked her family, staff, and the community.
