DuBois, Alfred W. Kendall, Edward A. Rybak, Janina Surdyka Upon motion by Mr. Rybak, seconded by Mr. Kendall, the minutes of the May 12, 2016 meeting were unanimously approved. One nomination paper was submitted by Libertarian candidate Thomas J. Simmons for Representative in Congress in 1st Congressional District with 9 signatures – 8 were determined valid. Registration statistics (including address and party affiliation changes) for the month of May are as follows: Registered in the office 44 Received from the RMV 313 Registered by mail 37 Registered at public-assistance agencies 57 Registered online 18 Received from other City/Town Halls 3 Deleted from voter registration roll (moved, died or in 114 response to confirmation notice) Since July 1, 2015 the Department collected $25,134.70 from passport applications and spent $14,934.59 for photo ink and paper, priority postage, 7 calendars, receipt books, 4 reams of business paper, staples, post-its, 4 mouse pads and $10,500.00 transferred to Special Services for conducting the Annual City Census. The present balance of this account is $138,046.16. 2,500 Acknowledgement Notices (postage pre-paid double postcards) went out on May 24th to census non-respondents, as required by MGL Ch. 51, Sec. 37. Vote to accept Clerk’s report was unanimous. Old Business: Request for continuation of the Passport Revolving Fund for the purpose of processing and mailing passport applications was approved by our Mayor and City Council on June 7th. New Business: - Motion was made, seconded and unanimously approved that additional Initiative Petitions and Nomination Papers be certified as presented by the Clerk. - the Board received feedback from the Clerk of the Board regarding upcoming changes to the voter registration regulation, pre-registration for 16 year olds which will start in August, and early voting. Next meeting of the Board was scheduled for August 19 for the purpose of registering new voters for the September 8, 2016 State Primary.
