Rybak, Janina Surdyka – Alfred Kendall excused Minutes of the June 23, 2017 meeting were reviewed and approved as presented by the Clerk. Correspondence: - State Election Division – Election Resource Book and requirement of Annual Training - Bureau of Consular Affairs, Passport Services, Certificate of Achievement - Office of Jury Commissioner – Annual Submission of our Residents List Motion was made, seconded, and carried to place correspondence on file and to assure that our submitted list is accurate and up to date. Our current balance is $140, 317.44. Motion was made, seconded, and unanimously approved to accept the Clerk’s report as presented and to refer Nomination Papers to New Business. Old Business: The members of the Board received information from Janina regarding a conference she attended in Northampton on July 28. Information included Local Update of Census Addresses (LUCA) training, status on court challenge to automatic voter registration, and initiative petitions filed with the Attorney General’s office. Deadline to file initiative petitions with our office for certification is November 22. New Business: members of the Board took the following action: - Motion was made by Mr. Rybak, seconded by Ms. DuBois and carried that nomination papers for the 2017 City Election be certified as presented by the Clerk. - It was determined that Preliminary Election in Ward 1 for School Committee is needed to reduce number of candidates from 3 to 2. All other candidates will automatically advance to general election. - Motion was made, seconded and unanimously approved to conduct special voter registration session on August 16 at Chicopee Farmers Market. Next meeting of the Board was scheduled for August 30, deadline for voter registration for the September 19 City Preliminary in Ward 1.
