DuBois, Alfred W. Kendall, Janina Surdyka, Edward Rybak excused Upon motion by Mr. Kendall, seconded by Ms. DuBois, the minutes of the August 4, 2017 meeting were unanimously approved. Correspondence: - MA Election Division – Checklist for Certifying Initiative petitions - Department of Public Health – Potential Deletes due to Death - Boston Passport Agency – Training for Acceptance Agents Motion was made, seconded and carried to place correspondence on file. Clerk’s Report: The following is a count of registered voters eligible to vote in the September 19, 2017 Ward 1, City Preliminary: W/P Democrat Republican Libertarian Unenrolled Other Totals 1-A 743 255 6 1091 30 2125 1-B 724 279 7 1277 30 2317 ___________________________________________________________________________ Totals 1467 534 13 2368 60 4442 Department certified 18 applications for absentee ballots and updated voters’ history of 195 residents who cast their ballots on September 19 (required by MGL Ch. 51, Sec. 37A). On August 30, the last day for voter registration, 25 residents registered to vote on line, by mail and at RMV offices. Registration statistics (including address and party affiliation changes) for the month of September are as follows: Registered in the office 21 Received from the RMV 294 Registered by mail 43 Registered at public-assistance agencies 21 Registered online 109 Received from other City/Town Halls 7 Deleted from voter registration roll (registered in another 164 City, died or in response to confirmation notice) Since July 1, 2017 the Department collected $6,233.40 from passport applications and spent $744.05 for photo ink and paper, priority postage, 2 reams of business paper, staples, metric ruler, and recyclable bags for shredder. The present balance of this account is $143,897.69. Vote to accept Clerk’s report was unanimous. New Business: In preparation for the next City Census motion was made by Ms. Surdyka, seconded by Ms. DuBois and carried to request the transfer of $11,000 from the Passport Revolving Fund to the Special Services Account. Clerk informed members of the Board that the following Initiative Petitions are currently being circulated with deadline for filing with our office at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22: Increase Minimum Wage, Radiology Fee Disclosure, Paid Family Medical Leave, Financial Transparency Presidential Election, Reduce Euthanasia of Homeless Animals, No Public Funding of Abortions, Patient Safety, Solar Energy, Political Spending by Non-Residents, Reduce Sales Tax, Require Tax Free Weekend. Next meeting of the Board was scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on November. 16, 2017 for the purpose of certifying Initiative Petitions.
