Zygarowski MINUTES January 30, 2017 The following are the minutes of a public hearing held Monday, January 30, 2017 at 6:00 PM in the City Council Chambers, Fourth Floor, City Hall Annex, 274 Front Street, Chicopee, MA 01013. Members Present Zaskey, Brooks, Courchesne, Zygarowski (arrived 6:07) Members Absent McLellan Also Present Dan Garvey (Associate City Solicitor), Councilor Laflamme, The meeting was called to order at 6:02 PM In compliance with the Open Meeting Law the Vice Chairman asked if anyone in the audience was recording the meeting. Hearing none the meeting continued. ITEM #1 Petition from Columbia Gas of Massachusetts requesting that it be granted a location and permission to run and maintain 1735’ of 6” MP gas main on Burnett Rd (the Ludlow line to Sand Trap Way), 500’ of 2” MP gas main on Sesame Dr (Basil Rd to Hse #46 Sesame Dr), and Sheridan St (from Slate Rd to Hse #414 Sheridan St). This main replacement is being performed to facilitate the planned Water Transmission Relocation being performed by the city. Motion made by Councilor Brooks for a 10 minute recess. Motion passed. Meeting resumed at 6:10 PM. Motion made by Councilor Brooks and second by Councilor Zygarowski to remove from the table. Motion passed. William Terry, Field Engineer, Columbia Gas, was present at the meeting. This request is a result of the water redundant project that the city will be undertaking. The committee asked if the old pipes will be removed. Mr. Terry replied that the old pipes will be removed because the water pipes are going in that location. 1 The committee also asked if customers will be effected by this replacement. Mr. Terry replied that most customers will only be affected at most an hour but everyone will be notified in advance. Existing pipe will be removed. Motion made to approve. Committee vote 4 – 0 favorable. ITEM #2 Minutes – January 10, 2017 Motion made by Councilor Zygarowski and second by Councilor Brooks to approve. Motion passed. Meeting adjourned at 6:19 PM. 2
