GOLF COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES
April 30, 2019
CALL THE MEETING TO ORDER 6:00 p.m.
Attendance: Chairman Lonczak, Vice Chairman LaPlante, Commissioners Nadeau,
Robak, LaPerle, Director O’Neill, Superintendent Bach.
Public Input: An observation was made that logs from trees cut down last year were
laying on the ground were an eyesore and should be removed.

Suggestion Box review: None
Acceptance of April 17, 2019 Minutes: Vice Chairman LaPlante made a
motion to accept April minutes. Second by Commissioner Robak. Approved by all.
Superintendent report: Superintendent Bach reports the golf course overall is in
good condition. The recent heavy downpour left fairways #5 and #17 very wet. The
crew has been busy aerating and overseeding the golf course. The new sprayer is
working very well. The crew will be fully staffed in May with 13 crew members.

Director Report: Director O’Neill reports even with the very wet and cold April the
golf course is slightly ahead of April, 2018 sales. There will be at least one outing every
week in the Month of May. It was suggested by Commissioner Robak the Commission
receive a calendar of scheduled events on a monthly basis. Bi-weekly service of golf carts
has begun. The fleet is generally in good condition. In order to present a more
professional appearance Director O’Neill will order shirts and Jackets for the staff.
Director O’Neill will also review the need for replacement of all trash and recycle
containers for the golf course and clubhouse areas.
Concession Report: Tents will be erected next week
New Business:
1. Assistant to Director Position: Director O’Neill will review the current job
description and edit as necessary.
2. Dangerous tree removal on left of 15th tee box: Director O’Neill will discuss
removal with the Forestry Dept. He will also discuss the removal of a tree near
the 10th fairway as well.
Old Business:
1. Update on Clubhouse work: The Sherriff’s Dept continues to work on the
clubhouse as time permits.
2. Policy on signage additions / changes to clubhouse: A motion was made by
Commissioner Robak to approve the Policy. Second by Commissioner Nadeau.
Approved by all.
3. Update on A/C Compressor & Mini-Split system for clubhouse: Jim
Horniak suggested we consult with Bell / Simon as to what size Mini Split
would be required for the area to be cooled.
4. Update on tree work and stump grinding on greens #6 and #8: Forestry
continues to work on stump grinding around the 8th green. Northern Tree
Service will be stump grinding next week around the 6th green as well as other
stumps around the golf course as allowed by their time limitation.
5. Conservation meeting status: There will be a Conservation Commission
meeting held Wednesday, May 1st at 6:15 pm at the Senior Center to discuss a
timetable for our meeting.
6. Brush removal around deck: Still in progress.

7. Lightening detection system repairs status and testing procedure
development: The box for the 10th fairway is out for repair. All others are in
working order.
8. Review menu and pricing for concessions service: The menu was reviewed
by the Commission. It was suggested by Vice Chairman LaPlante a similar
menu be available for the Beverage Bar and Carts.
9. 2020 Budget Submission status: The budget was approved by the City
Auditor. The next step is City Council approval.
10. Update on display board and 2nd bag rack for Clubhouse: The Display
Board should arrive around May 10th. The second Bag Rack will cost $800 and
be ordered shortly.
11. Plan for plantings on hillside of Hole #8: Once stump grinding is complete the
left side of the cart path will be planted with Rhododendron type plants.
Superintendent Bach is considering Wild Flowers for the right side of the cart
path. He continues to observe how the area responds during heavy rain events.
12. AJGA Tournament Planning: A separate meeting is being planned for next
week to further discuss.
Review and signing of bills: There were no bills for review and signing.

meeting. Second by Commissioner Nadeau. Approved by all. Meeting adjourned
7:35 pm.
