Chicopee Historical Commission Voting Record and Minutes The Planning Board of the City of Chicopee public hearing for Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 3:30 PM, City Council Chambers, 4th Floor, City Hall Annex, 274 Front Street, Chicopee, MA 01013 Meeting was brought to order at 3:30 PM by Josh Clark Historical Commission attendance: Member Present Absent Excused Joshua Clark, Chair X Sandra Ross X Vice Chair Linda Menard-Mruk X Clerk Charles Jendrysik X James Tanhauser, Jr. X Emery Galik X Joseph Pasternak, Jr. X Planning Staff attendance: Member Present Absent Excused Lee Pouliot, X Director James Dawson, X Development Manager Jack Benjamin, X Asst. ITEM 1: Discussion Old/New Business  Funding for the restoration of the old map - Josh indicated the Mayor is in favor of the project. Joe Pasternak spoke with the curator of the Holyoke Public Library, Joe was given information about a Boston Library that does map restoration. If the Commission’s request for funding does not materialize the Commission will explore further avenues for funding. Josh will contact the director of the Chicopee Public Library for guidance and will continue searching for funding sources.  Jim Tanhauser was present, he explained his schedule prevented him from attending past meetings. Chuck Jendrysik is intending to resign due to his inability to attend meetings. Josh is meeting with Emery Galik with regard to his participation in meetings.  The Commission will explore a possible presentation on the Greek Community.  Josh has been in contact with the Elms College about the possible demolition of the Gaylord House. The City does not currently have an acting Historical District Commission in place therefore the Commission has no jurisdiction over the fate of the Gaylord House.  Josh was sent a picture of a gun from the 1800s; he will research to see if he can locate any information about the gun.  Carolyn Porter forwarded pictures of the revised signage for Wisniowski Park. The new sign has a graphic timeline; the Commission agreed the graphic timeline was an improvement.  Topics for presentations for the Commission meeting convening in September will be discussed at the May 9, 2017 meeting.  Police Officer Mike Wilk may present on May 9, 2017 about the history of the Chicopee Police Department.  A presentation about the Chicopee Fire Department history may be scheduled for September 12, 2017. ITEM 2: Minutes from the February 14, 2017 meeting. Motion to accept the minutes was made by Linda Mruk and seconded by Jim Tanhauser. Vote was 4-0 to approve the minutes. General Law Ch. 40, Section 8D and the Chicopee Historical Commission Ordinance Ch. 16, Article XV the Chicopee Historical Commission public hearing on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 3:30 PM, , City Council Chambers, City Hall Annex, 4th Floor to discuss the following: Item 1: Josh – Update on possible funding with regard to old map restoration. Item 2: Discussion Old/New Business:  How does the Commission want to proceed with Joe Pasternak’s request at the March 16, 2017 meeting to handle the members who do not attend meetings?  Reappointments – if any Commissioners are interested in reappointment please submit a letter of interest to the Mayor as soon as possible. Joshua Clark and Emery Galik are current everyone else’s term has expired and needs reappointment.  Future Presentations – Ongoing Homework Assignment. o Jim Lowe – History of Chicopee Country Club - June 13, 2017 Item 3: Minutes from February 14, and March 16, 2017. Item 4: Adjournment, next regularly scheduled meeting is May 9, 2017.
