Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting Agenda Wednesday, March 23, 2022 7:00 p.m. – Signing of Bills 7:05 p.m. – Regular Meeting A. Call meeting to order: Attendance: B. Minutes of last meetings: February 22, 2022 C. Public Input: Each speaker is asked to direct their comments to the Chair and keep their remarks to 5 minutes. D. Communications: 1. Request from Hampden Charter School of Science for field use at Bowie Field for high school softball games and practice from March 21st to June 11th from 3:00PM – 5:30PM Monday to Friday. 2. Request from Western Mass Wooden Bat League for field use at Rivers Park on Saturday, June 11th at 1pm for two baseball games. 3. Request from the Inter-Church Slow Pitch Softball League for field use on Tuesday nights on three diamonds from 5:30 to dusk for doubleheader softball games beginning May 3rd. 4. Request from the Inter-Church Slow Pitch Softball League for field use at Szot #1 on June 21st from 5pm to 10pm for an All Star Softball Game. Rain date is June 28th. 5. Request from MA Outlaws Baseball Team for field use on June 8th for a doubleheader baseball scrimmage beginning at 5pm. 6. Request from Knights of Columbus #4044 for field use for a kickball league on Sunday afternoons in May and June. 7. Other communications E. Maintenance Report: 1. Prepping diamonds and fields for Spring season. 2. Parks Labor Force: Current Park openings: (1) Park Foreman (1) 9L – Heavy MEO/Laborer (1) 5L – MEO/Laborer. All other positions are filled. F. Recreation Report: 1. High School Sports: Baseball/Softball/Tennis schedules received. Practices begin March 21st 2. Adult Rec Programs: Tang Soo Do Korean Martial Arts, Tennis Lessons, MCOA Walking Challenge 3. Adult Rec Leagues: Adult Volleyball – Playoffs end March 23rd. Adult Basketball – Season complete. Adult Softball leagues forming now. 4. Youth Rec Leagues: Youth Basketball – Season complete. Suburban Basketball – Season complete. Youth Baseball and Softball – Practices begins April 11th. Gold Star Soccer April 9- June 11. Galaxy Flag Football – beginning in May. AJAC Spring Soccer 5. Youth Rec Programs: Tang Soo Do Korean Martial Arts, Tennis Lessons, Art-Ventures – August 15-19.
